Summit Mount Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak, and complete the entire 56 km Snowies Alpine Walk, returning each evening to the comfort of Snowbird Lodge in Charlotte Pass.
Known for its snow-covered peaks, glacial lakes, spring wildflowers, and granite boulders, Kosciuszko National Park is home to wild and rugged landscapes that offers an unforgettable walking experience.
On this fully supported trek, you’ll carry just a day pack as you explore the entirety of this world-class trail. Wander among majestic snow gums, follow the mighty Snowy River, and discover the unique flora and fauna of this alpine ecosystem. From the summit of Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m), you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over Australia’s high country.
Each evening, unwind at Snowbird Lodge, a cosy alpine retreat, where our signature nourishing meals and warm beds await after your day in the mountains.

Day 1
Jindabyne – Illawong Walk
Meeting & Transfer:
You can self-drive to Jindabyne or arrange an optional transfer from Canberra. After meeting in Jindabyne, a short transfer takes the group to Guthega for a café-prepared lunch.
Afternoon Walk:
Follow the mighty Snowy River towards Charlotte Pass. Along the way, spot wombat highways, crimson rosella‑filled tree hollows, and the historic Illawong Hut. Cross Australia’s highest-altitude swing bridge, the Illawong Suspension Bridge, framed by granite peaks. Wander through heathlands that merge into ancient snow gum forests and alpine terrain, finishing among majestic grandfather snow gums at Charlotte Pass. Optional exploration of Mount Stilwell offers panoramic views of the Main Range.

Day 2
Main Range Loop
Today’s Adventure:
Start the day with a gentle crossing of the stepping stones over the Snowy River - bring a spare pair of socks just in case! Trek past the Sentinel and along alpine ridges to Blue Lake, a spectacular glacial cirque. Continue to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak (2,228 m), and enjoy lunch with panoramic views of the Main Range. If the 22 km day feels a little too challenging, don’t worry — there’s an optional shorter route available so you can still enjoy the highlights at a more comfortable pace.
The afternoon features a scenic traverse along the high-country ridge before an easy 9 km descent back to Charlotte Pass Village.

Day 3
Charlotte Pass – Perisher Valley
Today's Adventure:
From Charlotte Pass, follow the Snowies Alpine Walk through snow gum forests and alpine meadows. Wander along the stone path from valley to valley, climbing to the dramatic Porcupine Rocks. Pause for a scenic lunch on the trail, enjoying breathtaking views in all directions.
The walk concludes with a return to Snowbird Lodge, where you’ll enjoy another relaxing evening and a hearty dinner.

Day 4
Snowbird Lodge – Thredbo Valley – Bullocks Flat
Today’s Adventure:
A morning transfer from Snowbird Lodge to Perisher Village begins our day where we follow the Snowies Alpine Walk down towards the Thredbo Valley, with expansive views across the southeast and the Monaro Plains. Wander along the Thredbo River, passing open meadows and forested sections, until you reach Bullocks Flat, the end of the trek.
Transfers & Departure:
From Bullocks Flat, it’s a 20-minute drive to Jindabyne, where the trip concludes for those self-driving or who joined the group transfer. Optional return transfers to Canberra (approx. 5–5:30 pm) are available — please advise us in advance.

What's to Bring
There's no better feeling than being prepared.
- Water Bottles (At least 2L capacity)
- Walking boots or shoes - The track can be wet and muddy after rain
- Comfortable loose fitting clothes - Synthetic pants are best (not cotton as it can hold water)
- A warm jacket – polarfleece is a good choice
- A waterproof jacket
- Personal toiletries
- Towel
- Swimmers
- A sun hat
- A warm hat such as a beanie for cooler weather
- A bag e.g. suitcase, duffel or back pack to pack camp clothes, toiletries and other personal items – we will transport these for you to camp.
- Cup to carry in your day pack for morning tea.
Optional items include: camera, binoculars, mobile phone (reception is patchy along the walk), walking poles, extra pair of shoes or sandals for evenings, personal day pack if desired.

What is the Maximum Walking Group Size?
We welcome up to 10 guests per tour to ensure a personalised and relaxed experience. Larger groups can be accommodated on request — please contact us to discuss your needs.
Are children allowed on the walking tours?
Children are welcome on our private tours by prior arrangement. For our scheduled group departures, participation is limited to adults.
What sort of terrain will we encounter?
You’ll walk on a mix of well-maintained alpine trails, including stone paths, gravel tracks, and metal boardwalks that protect the fragile alpine environment. The route weaves through snow gum forests, open meadows, and rocky ridgelines, with some uneven sections and gentle climbs and descents. Most of the walk is on formed trail, making it suitable for people with a moderate level of fitness.
Are the guides first aid qualified?
All of our guides are Wilderness First Aid qualified. We also carry remote area communications devices and comprehensive wilderness first aid kits.
Where do we leave our vehicles during the walk?
We will meet in the public carpark on the corner of Snowy River Avenue and Kalkite St in Jindabyne. Guests will leave their vehicles there for the duration of the walk.
